Access Control System

Most of the time, when we say “physical access control system,” we mean an electronic security system. Most of the time, they use something like an access card to let people into certain areas. And because they can record who went where and when, they can give you useful information that can help you keep track of how your buildings and sites are being used.

Mechanical keys are the easiest way to control who can get into a building, and many smaller businesses use this method. But using mechanical keys has a lot of flaws and limits, even for a small business. This is especially true as a business grows. Here are just a few of the problems that come up when you use keys.

Perks of Using an Access Control System

  •  People misplace their keys: If someone loses a key, the lock needs to be changed so that the lost key can’t be used to get in. Then, you have to give everyone who needs to use that door a new key.
  •  Keys don’t leave an audit trail: You can’t tell if someone has used a key or when, so you don’t know who has come in or when.
  • It’s hard to keep track of keys: If someone needs to get into a lot of different buildings and rooms, they will have to carry and use a lot of keys. It can be hard to remember which key goes to which door, but labeling them would be too dangerous.

Fingerprint

Fingerprint security systems are a good choice for businesses because they are hard to hack because there is no password or other information to enter. Instead, biometric technology is used in fingerprint security systems.

Other security measures than fingerprint access control can be used with biometric access systems, such as iris recognition or palm recognition. The global fingerprint access control systems market is being held back by the fact that demand is going up in both of these areas.

Biometric access control is a way to make sure that only authorized people can get into certain areas or use certain resources. Biometric authentication is a way to tell who someone is based on something unique about them, like a fingerprint. Biometric fingerprint readers are used for access control. They scan a person’s fingerprints and compare them to what was already in the database. If the information matches, the person can get into the secure area or use the protected resources. Biometric access control systems are now one of the most secure ways to prove who you are.

RFID

RFID stands for “radio-frequency identification,” which is a type of technology that uses radio waves to read digital information from RFID tags or smart labels (see below). RFID is like barcoding in that a device reads information from a tag or label and stores it in a database. RFID, on the other hand, has a few advantages over systems that track assets with barcodes. The most important difference is that data from RFID tags can be read even when they are not in the line of sight, while barcodes need to be lined up with an optical scanner.

RFID is a part of the Automatic Identification and Data Capture group of technologies (AIDC). AIDC methods automatically find objects, collect information about them, and put that information straight into computer systems with little or no help from people. Radio waves are used in RFID systems to do this. RFID systems have three main parts: an RFID tag, also called a smart label, an RFID reader, and an antenna. RFID tags have an integrated circuit and an antenna that send information to an RFID reader (also called an interrogator). The reader then turns the radio waves into a form of data that can be used. The information from the tags is then sent to a host computer system through a communications interface. There, the data can be stored in a database and looked at later.

Smart Lock

The concept of opening your door with your smartphone is no longer science fiction. Utilizing innovative digital security technologies, smart locks make the process of accessing your house or company more convenient and secure. Instead of a standard lock and key, smart locks employ a number of methods – typically smartphone applications or PIN codes – to make entering a house or company simple and convenient. With a smart lock, you never have to worry about forgetting your key, locking yourself out, or having your key stolen. All you need to do to enter your home is open an app and push a button.

Vital Techvision is pleased to offer our customers a selection of smart lock solutions and brands. We’ll dispatch a professional to your residence to install the lock, and they’ll gladly explain how to utilize the lock to keep your home secure. Even if you buy the lock yourself, our Physical Security Specialists will install it for you. With decades of combined expertise, our technicians have encountered nearly every type of available technology and will ensure that your unique smart lock is fitted correctly so that it runs smoothly and poses no security concern.
